The 8th Sterkfontein Composers Meeting took place at the Hoofstraat Conceptual in Riebeek Kasteel (3rd - 10th October 2021). The artist-in-residence for this meeting was the Swedish musician Sören Hermansson (horn & electronics) and the additional faculty was Dr. Miles Warrington (University of Pretoria). The meeting featured daily workshops and masterclasses, discussions and listening sessions.
New works developed during this event were performed at the Pur Pur Festival on the 9th of October 2021.
The 8th meeting was presented by the Africa Open – Institute for Music, Innovation and Research, and Stellenbosch University with funding from the Rupert Musiekstigting, SAMRO Foundation, and the Swedish Embassy Pretoria.
